Meet the Readers: Part 6

"Burttram" is an old friend and raving lunatic.

He enjoys: His daughter and everything she does, women hopelessly out of his league, SouthPark, fine German automobiles painted with mops, the smell of napalm in the morning and pain.

He dislikes: Residential telephone service subscribers, fundamentalist insurgencies, incoming small arms fire and armadillos.

I sincerely hope Burt doesn't kill me.

Hey Kids!

Bloom and Decay in Wylam

Here are two photos I took Sunday evening in Wylam, a formerly thriving town very near the Fairfield Steel Works.
It's an interesting place, and there are plenty of photo opportunities for my continuing "Rundown Crap" series.

I oversaturated the color on these to create the effect.

Know Your French Actresses: Catherine Deneuve

Catherine Deneuve’s flawless features and chilly onscreen persona made her the art house muse of Europe’s greatest directors and an unrelenting object of desire for men the world over. Though her talent was undisputed, it was often overshadowed by her extraordinary beauty.(Yahoo Movies)

I left out one of the best parts of this picture..

I'm not a fan, but still...

No, I don't really care for Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees, but sometimes you just have to feel for the guy.

Dude... OWWWW!!

Meet The Readers: Part 5

"Sofa King" is an old friend who moved to the coast.

He enjoys: Superstardom Songs about the weather, neglecting his oldest and dearest friends, connectin' credit-worthy folks with quality upholstered lifestyle ensembles, convertibles and looking sincere on the beach with a guitar.

He dislikes: The westbound lanes on I-20, picking up the phone, sleep deprivation and spotty broadband connections.

This is just wrong...

Heads Up!!

Heads up, everybody. I'm starting to consider planning our first party of the year.

If only my friends were as awesome as the cats in this picture.

Gregg Allman at Scott Boyer Benefit in Birmingham

This is one of the coolest shows I ever attended. It was just over two years ago, April 18, 2007 at the Alabama Theater in Birmingham.
A group of great musicians came together to perform at a benefit for Scott Boyer, who wrote "Please Be With Me" and this song.
Please Be With Me" was on the Duane Allman Anthology and was performed by Eric Clapton on 461 Ocean Blvd.

I was on the front row when this happened.

This Book Changed My Life

Everybody thinks my life is so great and so easy.

I don't know what I would have done without this helpful guide.

Harv is in Rock and Roll heaven now

I don't know who Harv was, but judging from his gravestone he apparently enjoyed a good old fashioned Rock-n-Roll show.

Meet The Readers: Part 4

I normally don't publish "Before and After" photos, but the years have been less than kind to some of us.

"Joe" is a relative so I've known him all my life, yet he allows me to visit anyway.

He enjoys: Buiding boats and Bass Guitars, obscure folk songs, fixing furniture, and living in the coolest house in Bay Minnette, AL with his lovely wife and sweet daughter. (According to the photo, he apparently is/was somewhat fond of cheap wine, nametags and dixie cups)

He dislikes: (None identified)

Know Your French Actresses: Mélanie Doutey

Ok, so in addition to songs about the Rodeo, I also have a weakness for French Actresses.

Mélanie Doutey (born November 22 1978, in Paris, France) is a French actress, and the daughter of director and producer, Alain Doutey, and of actress Arielle Séménoff. Mélanie Doutey is best known for her role in Claude Chabrol's La Fleur du Mal, which also starred Nathalie Baye, and El Lobo, the true story of a mole within the violent Basque separatist organisation ETA.

DreamMecca Studio, Birmingham

Bron and I were among the musical performers at the Grand Opening event of our friend's studio Friday night.

There was a great crowd, we had a blast. This is a video of the event, music by our friends "Unchain The Melody".

The new face of piracy

The East Carolina University Pirates have apparently updated their logo and signage.

I guesss to be truly accurate, they'll have to perforate the forehead on the updated version as well.

Now you tell me!!

The internet is a wonderful thing. Unfortunately, it came along too late to help me in any truly meaningful way.

Sure, the internet gives me a creative outlet to share my thoughts with a largely indifferent public, but this video could've made life easier when I was truly struggling.

Art Appreciation

This painting is entitled "Underwearhats" by Stacy Brown. It is a poignantly elegant study of the fragility of the human condition juxtaposed against the absurdist surrealism of post-industrial society.

Nah, just kidding. It's really just a picture of two dudes with their underwear on their heads.

Blog Hijacked?

This blog appears to have been hijacked by dubious characters, namely a "Cult Of Personality" headed up by our old friend pictured here:

I guess you can't choose your readers.

I'm about to give in to their demands and post some "Unknown Hinson", whatever that is...
